1. Millennials are digital natives in a land of digital immigrants. They are the first generation to have grown up totally immersed in a world of digital technology. They are your digital superstars! How are you maximising this within your team?
2. They have a strong sense of community, on a local and global scale. Therefore, they are more focused on larger societal needs rather than individual ones. Think about providing bigger picture opportunities and challenges than an individual one in their development plans.
3. They are often referred to as conscious capitalists. Which means they WILL research your business and will be interested in working for an organisation that services the interests of all major stakeholders. Customers, employees, investors, communities, suppliers and the environment. How are you promoting this internally and externally?
4. They are considered global citizens believing we all have a responsibility to make the world a better place (Which we do!). This is about the environmental contribution you’re making as an organisation. Consider providing volunteer time to all your employees, it’s a great way to play a part in the community you work in and is a great team building opportunity.
5. Millennials embrace change and are team orientated. They prefer egalitarian leadership and not hierarchies. Make sure you foster an open door culture for all employees to enjoy.
